Brian received his degree in musical string instrument repair-violin specialty from Minnesota State College's Red Wing campus in 2000. Following his graduation, he moved to Nashville, Tennessee where he was employed at The Violin Shop for over 20 years. During that time, Brian also focused on his love of fiddling, playing for over 17 years and 1,000 plus shows on the Grand Ole Opry with Mike Snider, countless performances with mandolinist Roland White at the world famous Station Inn and even several trips to Europe with the legendary Nashville Bluegrass Band. In 2011, Brian opened his own full service string shop specializing in the sale and repair of violin family instruments and their bows. For over four years The Fiddle House was a central hub for student and professional musicians, hosting weekly jam sessions, concerts and workshops. Over the years Brian has also honed his professional skills as a luthier by attending many discussions and week long seminars hosted by some of the most respected luthiers in the United States. Brian and his family moved to southeast Minnesota in 2023 and founded Christianson Violin Restoration, focusing on violin setups, repairs, restoration and violin making.
Jimmy Mattingly- "My fiddles are a huge part of my life! The sound and playability of my fiddles inspire me to play my best! For many years Brian has nailed what I'm looking for in my fiddles and I always feel confident they are the best they can be when he gets finished with them. Being an awesome fiddler himself, Brian understands what us fiddlers are looking for and he knows how to get it out of a fiddle."
